The main claim is "US Traffic Fatalities per 100 Million Vehicle Miles
Traveled drops to 1 or less for a calendar year before 1/1/2020,
according to the US NHTSA."

I looked for data at nhtsa.gov, and the first relevant doc that popped
up was this:

This quote seems to rule out a yes result pretty conclusively, even
though the date is 2020/10/1:

> the fatality rate for 2019 was 1.10 fatalities per 100 million VMT –
> the lowest rate since 2014, down from 1.14 fatalities per 100 million
> VMT in 2018.
Let me know if you have countervailing evidence.
